History

Mount Carmel PU College for Women, Bengaluru, managed by the Congregation of the Carmelite Sisters of St. Teresa, was established in 1948, to meet the escalating demand for the education of women in India.

It is a minority institution primarily for Roman Catholic students but opens its portals for those of all castes and creeds, in the spirit of service. The college derives inspiration from the Person and teaching of Jesus Christ, Universal Master and Model of Education, in its mission of empowerment of women through value-based education.

The Pre-University College was bifurcated from the First Grade College in 2002 and our students have been recipients of the Governments' Scholarships, Prizes and Medals. They have kept the College flag flying high by continuing to secure top ranks in the Pre-University Board Exams. Currently, the student strength of the Pre-University College is 2600, which is a remarkable testimony of its vision and mission. It is one of the top 10 colleges of India.
